Talent Development Lead
Westmeath GAA are happy to announce the appointment of a Talent Development Lead, with current staff member Emmet Corrigan set to take on the role. Emmet, a member of Ringtown and Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall clubs, has been working as a Games Development Administrator for the past number of years in the county, and his new role will oversee player development from U13 to U20 and beyond.
The role is specifically concerned with ensuring the county has a high-quality sports science framework to develop county underage players and coaches across the grades, be that athletic development, nutrition, statistics or analysis. Part of the role will require working in conjunction with post primary schools and clubs to ensure players’ best needs are being met.
A number of other counties have the role in place and this role is something that was included in the county’s strategic plan for 2022 – 2026. It should help the county to harness the talent available in both codes and ultimately produce better players for both club and county. Coaching and Games will meet with clubs in the coming weeks to explain how they can benefit from the Talent Development Lead role and we wish Emmet all the best in the role.
