In the sunshine of Castletown Geoghegan on Saturday our minor hurlers took on Dublin in what they knew was going to be a battle.
A opening moment goal from MJ Long set the tone for the next 60 minutes as Beehan’s men kept the scoreboard ticking and remained on top for the game.
At the break it was Westmeath 1-09 to Dublin’s 0-07. Spectators from both sides, agreeing this scoreline was an accurate reflection of the game so far.
It was in the second half that the men in maroon really showed their resilience and character. Despite great scoring from the Dubs wing forward Richie Hession, Conor Raleigh proved his brilliance with scores from play and frees.
