Our Minor footballers fell short in their quarter final clash with Kildare on Tuesday evening in a sunny TEG Cusack Park.
The Lilywhites started strong and raised the green flag in the opening 2 minutes to go 1-01 to 0-01 ahead at the 3 minute mark.
Supporters could see this was going to a high intensity game with Kildare proving strong in attack.
As the half progressed, Kildare continued their streak of goals as Dillon’s men struggled to turn attacks into scores.
At the break, it was Kildare 5-08 to Westmeath’s 0-04.
3 half time substitutions brought a new lease of life to the side and their attack started strong. Unfortunately, Lady Luck wasn’t with the lads as their shots hit the post, bounced off the top of the post and 2 goal chances just skimmed the post wide.
It wasn’t to be for our minors on this evening, as the game finished up 5-15 to 0-12.
