In Allianz Hurling League Division 2, we survived a late scare as Darragh McGilligan hit two late goals for Derry to reduce the deficit to a single point as it finished Westmeath 1-20 Derry 3-13.
The game had no goals until the 66th minute, before it started raining goals, four in the final 10 minutes.
David Williams, who finished with 1-10 for Westmeath, hit the net on 70 minutes and that looked to be that, after Derry hit hit a major four minutes earlier.
Then Darragh McGilligan green flags on 72 and 76 minutes made it a seriously competitve in the dying moments, but we held on for the win that keeps their promotion hopes alive as we go joint second with Kerry, three points behind Laois.
