On Saturday our hurlers headed to Castlebar for the final round of the league, where promotion hung in the balance with results needed for Meath and Westmeath in order to see Division 1B for 2027!
Despite a fantastic team display, Kevin O’Brien’s side’s victory did not snatch promotion with Kerry beating Meath by 2 goals.
Within the opening 17 minutes, 6 Westmeath men had added their name to the scoreboard and by the 35th minute, we led 21 points to 1-06.
O’Brien’s men continued their scoring ways and clocked up a further 2-16 in the second half with goals from Peter Clarke and Darragh McCormack see the game out comfortably.
We now look forward to the Joe McDonagh Cup starting on Sunday, 
April 19th v London in Ruislip.
