Over the past two Sundays the U-14’s has trained twice to dust off the cobwebs and for players to get a feel for the football again. The plan for this year is to move away from the traditional trials and move towards regional games. We are going to split the squad into 4 regional teams, for example north, south, east & west and they will then play against each other over the course of 4 weekends. We hope the teams balance out this way but may be subject to change based on how many players come from each club and the demographical location of clubs might not allow us to this.
By playing several regional games will give players a better chance of playing in their natural position and the best possible chance of making the squad. The teams will be managed by coaches involved with the U-14 set up this year. As mentioned there will be a total of 4 games played with a final at the end. The games will be played on the following dates 16th Feb, 2nd,9th, & 23rd March. We are yet to confirm venues and times as we are waiting to hear back on this.
If a player is unable to attend one of these dates, they need to let their regional manager know before Thursday afternoon. All players must wear gum shields for all games and any player that doesn’t have a gum shield will not be allowed play.
