New Referees Course Starts This Week

WESTMEATH GAA need new referees for 2019 in both hurling and football, In 2018 we recruited 10 new referees and we would like to at least repeat this.

There will be 3 training modules in TEG Cusack Park and the 4th will take place in Croke Park on the 6th April where the GAA President will present the certificate.

It’s never too late or early to start, The younger the better. Some of our younger referees have refereed at senior inter county level while also officiating as linesmen and 4th officials. Young Refs like Caymon Flynn, Alan Coyne and Keith O’Brien come to mind having only taken up the whistle in the last 5 years.

Its never too late or early to start Refeering, but it is best to start young.

To this end there will be 4 training modules for new Referees:

Two will take place in TEG Cusack Park Mullingar – the 1st on Thursday 21st March at 7.30pm, and the 2nd on Wednesday 27th March also at 7.30pm

The 3rd will be done on line

The 4th will take place in Croke Park on Saturday 6th April at 10am.

Certificates will be presented by Uachtarán CLG – John Horan on the day, and will finish with lunch at 1pm
