Recently in Cusack Park the Leinster Council Coach/Player Support TURAS Programme was launched. This programme is laid out so as clubs have three engagements with Development Officer / Staff Members – the first a workshop to introduce the programme where clubs will be clustered – followed by two sessions with individual clubs at their venue as they work with their players. The age groups being worked with in Westmeath at the moment are U8s and U10s with the first group of clubs being introduced to the programme this Thursday and upwards on twenty clubs being worked with by the end of June. In Garrycastle this Thursday Tubberclair, Caulry, Maryland/Tang, Athlone along with the hosts take part in the first session which then leads to two additional sessions in each of those clubs with Development Officers and Club Coaches working together to coach club players and through sharing experiences will support and develop Coaches as they plan for individual sessions as well as planning for a two/three month period. The programme has been very well resourced by Leinster Council and should be very beneficial for all who take part.
