    Football League Finals Preview

    Friday, 29th June 

    ACFL Div 3 final, The Downs V Miltown, 7pm, Ken Daly

    ACFL Div 2 final, Shandonagh v Tang, 8.30pm, A Coyne

    Saturday, 30th June

    ACFL Div 4 final, Athlone v Mullingar Shamrocks/Moate All Whites, 6pm, P McCaughey

    ACFL Div 1 final, St Lomans v Garrycastle, 7:30pm, J Rock

    Division 1 Final

    Garrycastle come into the final with only 1 loss from 9 games which was to Athlone in Round 8. They opened with a 2-13 to 1-08 win over Castledaly and last week finished with a 3-16 to 1-09 win over Milltownpass.

    St.Loman’s have lost 2 of their games, to Rosemount in Round 4 and to Saturday’s opponents in Round 6. They sealed their place in the final with a 5-13 to 1-08 win over The Downs to finish ahead of Mullingar Shamrocks by 20 points on score difference.

    In the sides previous meeting Garrycastle ran out 2-12 to 2-10 winners.

     

    Division 2 Final

    Tang and Shandonagh both come in to the decider with 8 wins ans 1 draw from their 9 games.

    Tang opened with a 2-09 to 0-08 win over St.Mary’s Rochfortbridge and last time out beat Moate All Whites 3-11 to 1-12.

    Shandonagh’s opening win was 0-13 to 1-08 over Caulry while in Round 9 the defeated Maryland 1-18 to 3-09.

    The game is destined to be a close one with their earlier game finishing level – Shandonagh 1-12 Tang 3-06.

     

    Division 3 Final

    Milltown and The Downs both went undefeated throughout the league campaign: Milltown (8 wins, 1 draw) The Downs (7 wins, 2 draws). The Round 3 meeting between the sides finished level: Milltown 2-12 The Downs 3-09.

    Milltown’s opening win was 3-19 to 0-02 over St.Malachy’s. Their final round victory was a walkover meaning that their last game on 10 June was a 3-12 to 3-10 win against St.Loman’s.

    The Downs started with a 0-12 to 1-08 win over St.Loman’s and sealed their place in the final with a 3-16 to 2-12 victory against Killucan.

     

    Division 4 Final

    Athlone only lost 1 of their 6 games which was against Milltownpass in the last round. Their opening win was 0-10 to 0-08 over their final opponents Mullingar Shamrocks. In round 5 they defeated St.Paul’s 2-11 to 1-08 to guarantee a place in Saturday’s decider.

    Mullingar Shamrocks have also only lost 1 game which was to Athlone. Their 1st victory came in Round 2, 4-12 to 2-04 over Caulry while last night they earned their 5th win in a row by beating Moate All Whites 2-13 to 0-08.
